Windows 10 Poster Printer Installation

Mounting the Poster Printer Shared Disk

  1. These instructions show how to mount the samba share containing the Windows poster printer drivers and the printer accounting software client needed to print to the poster printer.
  2. Your computer must be attached to the 128.114.68, 128.114.69, or 128.114.25 campus network subnets.
  3. Select "File Explorer" from the "Windows" menu (This is the small window icon in the low left corner of Windows 10).
  4. Click on "This PC".
  5. Click on "Computer" and Select "Map network drive".
  6. In the "Folder:" field enter "\\print.pmc.ucsc.edu\posterprinter".
  7. Check the box that says "Reconnect at logon".
  8. Click "Finish".
  9. "posterprinter" will now be mounted and can be found found under the "This PC" in the "File Explorer".

Installing the Printer on your System

  1. We will now create a printer instance for "epsposter"
  2. Select "Settings" from the "Windows Menu" (window icon in bottom left-hand corner).
  3. Select "Devices" from the "SETTINGS" window.
  4. Select "Add a printer or scanner".
  5. Select "The printer that I want isn't listed".
  6. Select the "Select a shared printer by name" radio button.
  7. In the text field beneath the radio button enter: "http://print.pmc.ucsc.edu:631/printers/epsposter" and click "Next".
  8. A dialog box "Windows Printer Installation" will popup.
  9. Wait a moment and a second dialog box "Add Printer Wizard" will popup.
  10. Click on "HP" under the "Manufacturer" list.
  11. Click on "HP Designjet T1100 44in Class Driver" in the "Printers" list.
  12. Click "Ok".
  13. The "Windows Printer Installation" window should now say: "You've successfully added epsposter on http://print.pmc.ucsc.edu:631".
  14. Click "Next".
  15. Click "Finish".
