Software Information

The PMC group is happy to provide software support as we can. Please note however that application-specific questions may be beyond our capabilities, in which case we will try to point you to resources that may be able to assist you better.

Antivirus Software

Antivirus software for University owned systems is provided by ITS. The current product we are using is named SentinelOne. More information can be found out about it on the ITS SentinelOne site. Additional information is provided on that page for personally owned systems as well.

If you have any questions about which applies to you, please contact us so that we may assist.

MATLAB

UCSC has negotiated a MATLAB Site License with MathWorks. This means all students, faculty and staff can freely use the product and all toolboxes for university business regardless of which computer you are using (university owned or personal). For information on how to get MATLAB, please see this page for detailed instructions.

In addition, PMC will continue providing multiple versions of MATLAB from its software server for Linux systems. Access information can be found on the Linux Software Notes page.

Microsoft Office

UCSC has negotiated a Site License Agreement for Microsoft Office 365. More information can be found on this page. It is important to note that this is a limited license agreement - accounts will be deactivated once you leave the university, and this agreement currently has a limited time frame. While we understand the appeal of using Microsoft's products for compatibility reasons, the PMC group strongly encourages the use of the Google Suite of products instead, as users will continue to have access even after they leave the university. More information can be found on the Slug G-suite page.

Other Software

UCSC ITS has agreements and provides support for many other software products. Please see the ITS Software page for more information.
